Semefab has continued to recognise the achievements of students from three local partner schools, who have excelled within STEM subjects.
Pupils from Auchmuty, Glenwood and Glenrothes High schools who have shown great aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects were selected by their teachers, with one winner and runner up from S4 and S6 year groups. Each winner and runner up received a trophy as well as a financial prize in recognition of their achievements.
Dr John Bruce Memorial and Semefab Awards
The Dr John Bruce STEM Awards was set up in 2019 after the sad passing of one of Semefab’s founders and Directors. This annual event is one that all of the team here at Semefab are proud to support in memory of the much-missed Dr John Bruce.
Each of the winners received their prizes at the yearly Award Ceremonies held at each school, which representatives from Semefab were kindly invited to attend to present the winners with their trophies.
Pride and Privilege
George Smith, Production Manager of Semefab said,
“With each year it’s great to see the enthusiasm of the students within their subjects. The winners of these awards represent the future talent within STEM industries, and with this will come new technologies, applications and innovations. It is exciting to see what the future holds for our winners and how they will excel within their fields. As we do every year, we are also pleased to offer the opportunity of a work placement here at Semefab to some of the winners.”
Andrew Bell, Production Supervisor and STEM/DYW Ambassador of Semefab added,
“It was a real privilege to be invited by the schools to hand over the awards and to recognise the hard work the students have put into their studies over the last year. I am told that these awards are much coveted by the students and has become somewhat of a competition between peers. Seeing the pride of the winners has made this an excellent experience to be a part of.”
One of this year’s winners will embark on an extended work experience placement for several months at Semefab, where they will learn about the various departments and processes that go into making high quality sensor chips that are shipped globally from Semefab’s operations in Glenrothes.
Semefab extends its congratulations to all of this year’s winners.
