An Impressive Record Since 1986
Semefab have an impressive track record of process development, process induction and volume foundry supporting silicon based MEMS, CMOS, ASIC, Bipolar-Linear & Discrete semiconductor device technologies.
Founded in 1986, Semefab produces a diverse process portfolio of semiconductor technologies.
In 2009 Semefab invested £15.2M, creating Fab2, for processing of 6" MEMS technologies and Fab3 for 6" CMOS/Bipolar technologies. Fab3 became operational in 2011.
Both Fabs have completely autonomous services and facilities.
Separating the Fabs ensures the integrity of Fab3 for producing ultra low leakage junctions, high carrier lifetimes and high reliability MOS transistors. Semefab observes strictly one-way traffic between Fabs and can therefore produce MEMS devices with ultra clean junctions and transistors by starting their lives in Fab3 and completing their processing in Fab2 which features heavy metal processing eg: gold and alkali ionic solutions eg: KOH. This ability to segregate processes ensures that Semefab is able to routinely produce MEMS devices with ultra clean semiconductor characteristics where necessary.
Supporting Customers Volume Demand
Semefab's 3 wafer Fabs support both product development/process induction and volume manufacture in a cost effective and efficient manner.
Fab1 We closed Fab1 late 2022.
Fab2 produces MEMS foundry of pressure sensors, gas sensors, thermopiles, air flow, strain gauge, accelerometer, blood viscosity and blood analysis sensors and constantly has new development projects progressing towards volume foundry.
Fab 3 manufactures integrated circuits for Semefab's foundry customer base, Semefab's own product IC's and front end foundry of MEMS devices.
Development Projects transfer seamlessly to volume production utilising the same foundry equipment and personnel.
Semefab's commitment to quality, continuous improvement and environmental compliance is acknowledged by ISO9001 and ISO14001 accreditation.
